Give Your Child Ownership Over Their Environment.

“Make sure there’s a special shelf in the house for your child’s books.”

Children need their own space in the house that belongs only to them, so that they can have a sense of ownership over something.

This in turn builds responsibility in your child, as they take ownership of their belongings. It can be an area that they will be responsible for to keep tidy and to be in charge of; a place they can keep their belongings that adults won’t touch.

Create a space for them, build them an area that can be a sanctuary for them, where they can go to find peace and quiet. They can then be responsible for creating their own collection of chosen literature, and as they grow older their collection can grow with them and ultimately pass on the tradition to their children.
